Practical tips
The standard IVA rate in Spain is 21 percent, with reduced rates of 10 and 4 percent for some goods and services. Freelancers invoicing other businesses usually have to apply a withholding for income tax, called IRPF, and it is lower for the first years of a new freelancer's activity. Spain is also introducing new electronic invoicing and invoicing software requirements, so check the Agencia Tributaria for current rules.
