Practical tips
The standard VAT rate is 20 percent, with reduced rates of 10, 5.5 and 2.1 percent for some goods and services. Micro-entrepreneurs who benefit from the VAT exemption usually have to write a mention such as "TVA non applicable, article 293 B du CGI" on the invoice. France is also rolling out mandatory electronic invoicing in phases, with dates that differ by business size, so check the tax administration's calendar for your company.
